CACC HONORS ALAO, MCDONOUGH WITH WEEKLY VOLLEYBALL AWARDS

N.J. - Caldwell College sophomore middle blocker Titilola Alao
(Ossining, NY/Ossining) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
Volleyball Co-Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 4, the league
announced today. Also, freshman outside hitter Susan McDonough
(Saline, MI/Saline) was selected the conference's Rookie of the Week. This
is the second weekly honor for both Alao and McDonough, who led the Cougars
to three CACC victories last week.
Alao, right, averaged 3.78 kills and 0.78 blocks per set and hit .569 for
the week. In a 3-0 sweep of Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday, Alao
registered 16 kills with no errors for a .762 hitting percentage. The
performance helped Caldwell set school records for kills in a three-set
match (48) and team hitting percentage (.483). Against Concordia College on
Thursday, she had 11 kills, six total blocks and a .533 hitting percentage
in a three-set win. Alao also tallied seven kills in a 3-0 victory over Post
University on Tuesday.
McDonough,
left, continued her outstanding play during her rookie season, registering
nine kills, 10 digs and three service aces against Post. She then hit .533
with nine kills and one attack error in the win at Concordia. In Saturday's
sweep at Goldey-Beacom, McDonough had a team-best 17 digs to go with seven
kills. For the week, McDonough averaged 3.12 kills and 3.75 digs.
The Cougars' next match is a CACC contest at Holy Family University on
Saturday, Oct. 10.
