11-16-09
CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College freshman outside hitter Susan McDonough (Saline, MI/Saline) was selected the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Volleyball Rookie of the Week for the week ending Nov. 15, the league announced today. This is the fourth CACC Rookie of the Week award for McDonough, who averaged 3.71 kills and 3.14 digs in the final week of the season for Caldwell, which lost in the semifinals of the CACC Tournament on Friday.

The CACC Co-Rookie of the Year and a second team all-CACC honoree, McDonough had a team-leading 14 kills to go with 12 digs in a 3-1 victory over Nyack in the CACC quarterfinals on Tuesday. She then led all players with 12 kills against Philadelphia in the semifinals while registering 10 digs. Her performance earned her a spot on the CACC All-Tournament Team.

The honor marks the fourth straight weekly award for McDonough, who was the league's Rookie of the Week on Oct. 27 and the CACC Player of the Week on Nov. 2 and Nov. 10. For the season, McDonough led Caldwell with 3.03 kills per set and 13 double-doubles in an outstanding debut campaign.

The Cougars, coached by Megan Hrbek, went 21-12 overall to set a school record for most wins in a season. Caldwell also captured its second consecutive CACC North Division title with a 16-3 record in league play.
