NEWARK,
N.J. - The Caldwell College women's basketball team dropped a Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference game at N.J.I.T., 77-56 Tuesday evening
at the Fleisher Athletic Center. With the loss, the Cougars are now
8-15 overall and 7-11 in the CACC, while the Highlanders improve to
13-10, 12-6 with their sixth straight victory at home.
The Cougars held an early 10-point lead during the first half until
the Highlanders came back to tie the score at 33-33 at the half.
N.J.I.T. then took control of the game with a 22-8 run over the first
eight minutes of the second half and never looked back. The
Highlanders shot 59.4 percent from the field to Caldwell's 31.0
percent after halftime en route to outscoring the Cougars 44-23 in the
game's final 20 minutes.
Freshman forward Dana Leary (Bridgewater, NJ/Immaculata),
pictured, led Caldwell with a game-high 16 points to go with seven
points and four assists. Sophomore guard Shannon Coyle
(Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney) added 15 points, including three
three-pointers. The Highlanders' Emese Gyuricza, Aine O'Dwyer and
Kelly Crowe each tallied 12 points in the victory.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday, Feb. 19, when they play at
Goldey-Beacom College in a CACC contest. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
