CALDWELL DROPS CACC CONTEST AT POST, 60-56

Conn. - Sophomore guard Jenn Murray (Jackson, NJ/Jackson),
pictured, scored a career-high 21 points as the Caldwell College
women's basketball team lost to Post University, 60-56 in a Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Thursday evening at the Drubner
Center. The loss dropped the Cougars to 5-8 in the conference and 6-12
overall, while the Eagles improved to 5-13 overall and 5-10 in the
CACC.
The Cougars jumped out to a 23-10 lead in the game's first eight
minutes on the strength of three three-pointers from Murray and seven
points from sophomore guard Amy Ransom (Chattanooga, TN/Notre
Dame). But the Eagles tied the game with 13 straight points, and then
closed out the half with an 11-3 run that gave them a 36-28 lead at
halftime.
Caldwell then opened the half allowing just one Post field goal in 12
attempts while forcing six turnovers in the first 10 minutes of the
half in an 11-2 Cougar run. The lead would change hands five times
before the Eagles built a 55-48 lead with under four minutes left in
the game. Five points from freshman guard Corrie McIntyre
(Highland Park, NJ/Highland Park Regional) sparked a run of eight
straight points to give Caldwell a 56-55 advantage with less than a
minute to play. Post's Courtney McGinnis then made a lay-up with 18
seconds left to take a 57-56 lead. The Cougars missed a three-pointer
on their next possession, and Post's Christine Daley made 3-of-4 from
the line down the stretch to clinch the win.
Murray, whose previous career-high was 14 points, also grabbed a
team-best nine rebounds while shooting 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.
Ransom finished with 11 points, and McIntyre had nine points, three
assists and three steals in the loss. Jennifer Plante scored 11 points
for Post, and Tadj Williams added a game-high 11 boards for Post.
Caldwell's next game is Saturday, Feb. 5, when the Cougars host
Felician College at the Newman Center. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
