COUGARS TABBED FOR NINTH IN CACC PRESEASON POLL

11-8-05

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's basketball team was selected to finish ninth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference according to the 2005-06 CACC Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll, released on Monday at the conference's annual Media Day. The Cougars, who were 9-18 overall and 8-14 in the CACC to finish in ninth place last season, received 65 points in voting done by the league's 13 head coaches. Holy Family was picked to repeat as CACC champions.

The Cougars, coached by Nicole Durnien-Amato, return six players from last year's squad, including junior guard Shannon Coyle (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney), left, who paced Caldwell with a team-high 10.2 points per game. Junior guard Amy Ransom (Chattanooga, TN/Notre Dame) and sophomore forward Dana Leary (Bridgewater, NJ/Immaculata) are the other returning starters for the Cougars, who added a group of seven newcomers this season.

Caldwell College kicks off the 2005-06 season on Nov. 29 with a CACC contest at N.J.I.T.
