LYNCH NAMED FIRST TEAM ALL-MET
4-3-07
CALDWELL,
N.J. - Caldwell College sophomore forward Mackenzie
Lynch (Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic) was selected to the all-Metropolitan
Division II Women's Basketball First Team by the National Invitation
Tournament and the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association, the MBWA
announced today. Lynch and the other men's and women's basketball all-Met
award winners will be honored at the all-Met Awards Dinner on Apr. 10 at the
Giants Stadium Club.
A second team all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference honoree,
Lynch led the Cougars in scoring and rebounding in her first season at
Caldwell, averaging 18.5 points and 10.8 rebounds per game to rank fourth and
second in the CACC, respectively. In an 82-72 overtime win at the University
of Sciences on Dec. 9, she recorded 44 points and 22 rebounds, both career
highs. That performance helped Lynch earn CACC, ECAC and Metropolitan
Basketball Writers Association Player of the Week honors on Dec. 11. She also
recorded 11 double-doubles in her 21 games played before an injury sidelined
her for the final six games of the season.
Lynch is one of three CACC women's basketball players to be named all-Met, and
the only player from the conference to be included on the all-Met first
team. She is the first Caldwell women's basketball player to receive all-Met
honors since Shenee Clark, who was all-Met in 2003 and 2004.
Caldwell, coached by Linda Cimino, finished the season 10-17, including
an 8-14 mark in the conference that placed the Cougars ninth in the CACC
standings.
