LYNCH NAMED ECAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
12-13-06
CALDWELL,
N.J. - Caldwell College sophomore forward Mackenzie
Lynch (Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic) received her third Player of the Week
award for her performances last week, earning ECAC Player of the Week for
the week ending Dec. 10. On Monday, Lynch was chosen the Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference Player of the Week as well as garnering Player of the
Week accolades from the New York Area Metropolitan Basketball Writers
Association.
Lynch becomes the first Caldwell women's basketball player to be named ECAC
Player of the Week. She joins women's soccer player Patty Clark
(North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick) as ECAC weekly award-winners this
season.
The ECAC is the nation’s largest athletic and the only multi-divisional
conference with 324 Divisions I, II, and III colleges and universities from
Maine to North Carolina. Caldwell College has been a member of the ECAC
since 2004.
Lynch led the Cougars to a 2-1 record against three conference foes, averaging
34.3 points and 14.3 rebounds per game. She capped off an outstanding week with a 44-point, 22-rebound effort in an
82-72 overtime victory over the University of Sciences, last year's CACC
Tournament champions. In the win, Lynch made 16-of-22 from the field,
including 10-of-11 after halftime, while going a perfect 12-of-12 from the
free throw line, to help the Cougars end a five-game losing streak to the
Devils.
Earlier in the week, she recorded 34 points, 12 rebounds and four
steals to lead Caldwell over Felician College, 84-53 on Dec. 5. Lynch also
tallied 25 points and nine boards against Dominican College on Dec. 7. For the
week, Lynch shot 67.8 percent from the field and 85.2 percent from the line
while scoring 103 points.
Lynch and the Cougars are back in action on Saturday, Dec. 16, when they host
Wilmington College. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
