LYNCH, LEARY RECEIVE ALL-CACC HONORS

2-27-08
CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College women's basketball players Mackenzie Lynch (Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic) and Dana Leary (Bridgewater, NJ/Immaculata) were included on the all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference teams, the league announced today. Lynch made the all-CACC third team, while Leary received honorable mention. The two players have led the Cougars to a 16-10 record and a spot in the CACC Tournament after posting a 9-7 mark in the conference.

This is the second all-CACC award for Lynch (left), a 5-11 forward who was named to the all-conference second team a year ago. The team's leading scorer and rebounder for the second straight year, Lynch ranks fifth in the CACC in rebounding with 9.4 rebounds per game and 11th in scoring at 12.9 points per game. She also has recorded eight double-doubles this year. Earlier in the season, Lynch averaged 21.5 points and 11.0 rebounds in victories over Concordia and Goldey-Beacom to earn CACC Player of the Week honors.

This is the first all-CACC honor for Leary (right), who enters Wednesday's regular-season finale against Nyack College with 997 career points. A 5-7 guard, Leary is averaging 9.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while ranking third in the CACC in field goal percentage (.505). She also is an excellent student, earning CACC All-Academic Team honors twice for posting a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.

The Cougars host Nyack College on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 6:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center. The CACC Tournament begins on Saturday, Mar. 1, with Caldwell facing Bloomfield College at 2:00 p.m. The site has yet to be determined.
