LEEDHAM SELECTED CACC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

CALDWELL,
N.J. - Freshman guard Kirsty Leedham (Ellesmere Port,
England/Cheshire Acad.) was chosen the Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending Nov. 18, the league
announced today. Leedham averaged 20.0 points to help the Cougars open the
2007-08 season with two wins at the Bloomsburg University Tournament this
past weekend.
In her collegiate debut, Leedham scored a team-high 21 points as the Cougars
topped the host Huskies, 76-61 on Friday. She made 3-of-7 from three-point
range while recording four steals and five rebounds. Leedham again led her
team in scoring on Saturday with 19 points in a 78-76 comeback win over East
Stroudsburg University. The Cougars trailed by 16 points with less than 12
minutes to play before battling back and winning on a basket by senior guard
Phylicia Holmes (Roselle, NJ/Roselle) with three seconds on the
clock. Leedham scored all 11 of her second-half points during the comeback.
This is the first time since the 2000-01 season that Caldwell has started
the year with a 2-0 record.
Leedham and the Cougars host Stonehill College in the team's home opener on
Saturday, Nov. 24 as part of a doubleheader with the men's team, which plays
Belmont Abbey College at 2:00 p.m. The women's game follows at 4:00 p.m. in
the George R. Newman Center.
