LEEDHAM SELECTED CACC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

11-19-07
CALDWELL, N.J. - Freshman guard Kirsty Leedham (Ellesmere Port, England/Cheshire Acad.) was chosen the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending Nov. 18, the league announced today. Leedham averaged 20.0 points to help the Cougars open the 2007-08 season with two wins at the Bloomsburg University Tournament this past weekend.

In her collegiate debut, Leedham scored a team-high 21 points as the Cougars topped the host Huskies, 76-61 on Friday. She made 3-of-7 from three-point range while recording four steals and five rebounds. Leedham again led her team in scoring on Saturday with 19 points in a 78-76 comeback win over East Stroudsburg University. The Cougars trailed by 16 points with less than 12 minutes to play before battling back and winning on a basket by senior guard Phylicia Holmes (Roselle, NJ/Roselle) with three seconds on the clock. Leedham scored all 11 of her second-half points during the comeback. This is the first time since the 2000-01 season that Caldwell has started the year with a 2-0 record.

Leedham and the Cougars host Stonehill College in the team's home opener on Saturday, Nov. 24 as part of a doubleheader with the men's team, which plays Belmont Abbey College at 2:00 p.m. The women's game follows at 4:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
