LYNCH, PEREZ SELECTED TO ALL-MET BASKETBALL FIRST TEAMS

4-13-09
CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College seniors Mackenzie Lynch (Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic) and Manny Perez (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) were named to the Division II All-Met first teams by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association, the organization announced. This is the third consecutive year on the all-Met women's basketball first team for Lynch, while Perez is a repeat selection on the men's first team after earning all-Met second team honors in 2005 and 2006.

A 5-foot-11 forward, Lynch is a three-time all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference selection who averaged 16.3 points and a team-high 10.9 rebounds per game while starting all 28 games this season. She ranked among the leaders in the CACC in scoring (fifth), rebounding (second), free throw percentage and steals. This past season, Lynch registered 16 double-doubles while scoring in double-figures 24 times and grabbing at least eight rebounds 25 times. She scored her 1,000th career point in a victory over Chestnut Hill College on Jan. 20, becoming the 11th Cougar to achieve the milestone. In three seasons and 79 games at Caldwell, Lynch amassed 1,232 points and 814 boards while setting school records for free throws made (453) and free throw percentage (.773).

Perez, a 6-foot-7 forward, averaged 18.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game to earn first team all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference accolades. He also was chosen to the Daktronics all-East Region second team, and last week was one of 20 players in the country to play in the NABC/NCAA Division II All-Star Game, held in Springfield, Mass. A four-time all-CACC and all-Met performer, Perez led the CACC and ranked 29th nationally in field goal percentage (.577) while ranking third in the conference in scoring and fourth in rebounding. He leaves Caldwell as the program's second-leading scorer with 1,859 points. He also holds the school record for most free throws made (567) while ranking third in field goals (639) and fifth in blocks (60) all-time at Caldwell.

Lynch and Perez will be honored along with the other all-Met performers at the all-Met Awards Dinner on Wednesday, Apr. 15 at the Giants Stadium Club in East Rutherford, N.J.
