LEEDHAM NAMED CACC PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

2-2-09
CALDWELL, N.J. – Caldwell College sophomore guard Kirsty Leedham (Ellesmere Port, England/Cheshire Acad.) was selected the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 1, the conference announced today. Leedham averaged 30.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.3 assists over three games last week.

Leedham started the week on fire, exploding for a career-high 43 points on 13-of-24 shooting from the field in an 88-66 victory over Post University on Jan. 27. Her offensive outburst is the highest single-game scoring total in the CACC this season. She also fell one point shy of the school record of 44 points, shared by current teammate Mackenzie Lynch (Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic) and former Cougar standout Danielle Ciresi. Leedham followed with a 29-point game at Dominican College on Jan. 29. She wrapped up the week scoring 20 points in a narrow 60-58 loss to Georgian Court University at home on Jan. 31.

This is the first CACC Player of the Week honor for Leedham, who was chosen the conference's Rookie of the Week twice as a freshman last season. She leads the Cougars in scoring at 17.7 points per game, which ranks third in the CACC. Leedham also ranks third in the conference in steals (2.4 per game) and three-pointers made (2.3 per game).

The Cougars, who are 7-11 on the season, continue CACC play on Tuesday, Feb. 3, with a home game against Post University. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
