LYNCH INCLUDED ON MBWA WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

12-16-08
CALDWELL, N.J. – Caldwell College senior forward Mackenzie Lynch (Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic) was selected to the Honor Roll by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association for the week ending Dec. 14, the organization announced Monday. Lynch led the Cougars to a 70-61 victory over Adelphi University on Saturday in their only game of the week.

Lynch racked up season highs of 22 points and 15 rebounds to record her fifth double-double in seven games this season. After the two teams were tied at halftime, Lynch came through with a big second half, tallying 13 points and 11 rebounds to lift the Cougars past Adelphi for their third win in a row. A two-time all-Met first team selection by the MBWA, Lynch leads Caldwell in scoring and rebounding this season, averaging 14.4 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.

Each week the MBWA chooses a Player of the Week from among the nearly 75 colleges and universities in the tri-state area. All players who receive votes for Player of the Week are named to the Honor Roll. Last week, Caldwell men’s basketball player Manny Perez (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) also made the Honor Roll on the men’s side.

The Cougars, who are 3-4 on the season, host the ECAC Holiday Classic next weekend at the Newman Center. The Cougars will play Queens College on Friday, Dec. 19 at 6:00 p.m., before facing Mercy College on Saturday, Dec. 20, also at 6:00 p.m.
