LYNCH NAMED TO MBWA WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

1-6-09
CALDWELL, N.J. – Caldwell College senior forward Mackenzie Lynch (Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic) earned a spot on the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association's Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending Jan. 4, the organization announced Monday. Lynch averaged 22.3 points and 13.7 rebounds over three games for the Cougars last week.

Lynch started the week with an 18-point, seven rebound performance in a loss to Pace University at the Pace Tournament on Monday. On the second day of the tournament, Lynch tallied 22 points and 14 rebounds against the University of New Haven. The 5-11 forward saved her best for last, registering season highs of 27 points and 20 boards against Dowling in a home game on Sunday. Lynch was clutch from the free throw line all week, hitting 30-of-35 (85.7 percent), including a perfect 12-of-12 against Dowling.

A two-time all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference selection, Lynch leads the Cougars in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.8 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. Her rebounding average currently ranks first in the CACC.

Each week the MBWA chooses a Player of the Week from among the nearly 75 colleges and universities in the tri-state area. All players who receive votes for Player of the Week are named to the Honor Roll. This is the second time on the Honor Roll this season for Lynch, who made the list on Dec. 15.

The Cougars, who are 4-8 on the season, resume CACC play on Thursday, Jan. 8, with a home game against Bloomfield College. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
