LYNCH CHOSEN CALDWELL'S NJAIAW WOMAN OF THE YEAR

CALDWELL, N.J. – Caldwell College senior Mackenzie Lynch (Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic), a forward on the Cougars' women's basketball team, was selected as Caldwell College's recipient of the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW) Woman of the Year Award. Lynch and her fellow collegiate and high school honorees were honored at Seton Hall University as part of the National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration on Sunday, Feb. 1.

All of the award winners attended a luncheon at Seton Hall before being recognized at halftime of the women's basketball game between the host Pirates and St. John's University.

"Mackenzie has meant so much to the College, beyond her athletic accomplishments," said Assistant Director of Athletics Linda Cimino, who also serves as Caldwell's Senior Woman Administrator and women's basketball coach. "She is an excellent student, and has been active on campus since she arrived in 2006. This award is one of many Mackenzie has received during her time at Caldwell, and there is no doubt she will do many more great things after her college career is over."

A sociology major at Caldwell College, Lynch has served as the president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee while representing Caldwell on the SAAC for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference for the past two years. She has been active with Caldwell's community service and engagement projects, such as serving Thanksgiving dinner to seniors at Marion Manor, handing out candy to trick-or-treaters on Bloomfield Avenue for Safe Halloween at Caldwell, and bringing meals to the homeless with Campus Ministries. On the basketball court, Lynch is a two-time all-CACC and all-Met performer who recently scored her 1,000th point and grabbed her 700th rebound at Caldwell. She currently averages 16.8 points and a team-high 10.8 rebounds per game.
