ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - The Caldwell College women's cross country squad competed in its first meet of the 2004 season, taking second in the team standings at the Dominican Invitational Wednesday afternoon. The Cougars totaled 42 points as the University of Bridgeport won the meet with 18 points. Dominican was third with 60 points.

The first Cougar across the finish line was sophomore Shannon Coyle (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney), who placed third overall with a time of 22 minutes, 18 seconds. Junior Katie Doster (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) and sophomores Lauren O'Connell (South Amboy, NJ/St. John Vianney) and Amy Ransom (Chattanooga, TN/USC-Aiken) finished seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively, while sophomore Erin Doyle (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan) placed 15th.
