CROSS COUNTRY OPENS SEASON AT DOMINICAN

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - The Caldwell College women's cross country
squad competed in its first meet of the 2004 season, taking second in
the team standings at the Dominican Invitational Wednesday afternoon.
The Cougars totaled 42 points as the University of Bridgeport won the
meet with 18 points. Dominican was third with 60 points.
The first Cougar across the finish line was sophomore Shannon Coyle
(Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney), who placed third overall with a time
of 22 minutes, 18 seconds. Junior Katie Doster (Wayne, NJ/Wayne
Valley) and sophomores Lauren O'Connell (South Amboy, NJ/St. John
Vianney) and Amy Ransom (Chattanooga, TN/USC-Aiken) finished
seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively, while sophomore Erin Doyle
(Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan) placed 15th.
All but Doster and Ransom were competing in their first collegiate
cross country race. Doster placed 24th at the Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference meet last year and Ransom competed at South
Carolina-Aiken in 2003.
The cross country team competes in the N.J.I.T.
Classic this Sunday at Van Cortland Park in the Bronx, N.Y. Race time
is 10:30 a.m. |
