2-17-06
CALDWELL,
N.J. - The Caldwell College cross country team was named an
All-Academic Team for the 2005 cross country season by the U.S. Track
& Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the organization
announced Thursday. Teams must have a combined cumulative grade-point
average of 3.0 or higher to be eligible for the USTFCCCA All-Academic
Team award.
The Cougars, coached by John Tosato, compiled a team GPA of 3.37
through the fall semester to earn All-Academic Team honors. Team
members include senior Katie Doster (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley),
juniors Shannon Coyle (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney), Erin
Doyle (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan), Lauren O'Connell
(South Amboy, NJ/St. John Vianney) and Amy Ransom (Chattanooga,
TN/Notre Dame) and freshman Jerrica Kahwaty (Clifton,
NJ/Clifton). In January, Coyle, Doster and O'Connell were named to the
Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Academic Team for the 2005
fall season, which requires a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
"Our athletic success feeds off of our academic success, and everyone
ran well all season," Tosato said. "All six members of the team are
very dedicated to their academics, their career goals and their
participation on the cross country team."
Last fall the Cougars placed seventh in the CACC meet, the highest team finish in the program's
three-year history.
