CALDWELL CROSS COUNTRY NAMED ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

2-1-07
CALDWELL, N.J. - For the second year in a row, the Caldwell College cross country team received All-Academic Team honors by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the organization announced today. Teams must have a combined cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher to be eligible for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award.

The Cougars, coached by John Tosato, compiled a team GPA of 3.47 through the fall semester to rank 31st among the 91 NCAA Division II programs included on the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team list. Caldwell was one of two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference teams honored.

Team members include seniors Shannon Coyle (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney), Katie Doster (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley), Erin Doyle (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan) and Lauren O'Connell (South Amboy, NJ/St. John Vianney), and freshmen Danielle Cleary (Rockaway Twp., NJ/Morris Knolls) and Jaclyn Feola (Belleville, NJ/Belleville). Earlier this week, Coyle, Doster and O'Connell were named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Academic Team for the 2006 fall season, which requires a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Last fall the Cougars tied for eighth at the CACC Championships and received the conference's Sportsmanship Award for the third consecutive season.
