CALDWELL, N.J. - A pair of second-half goals by junior Renata Fonseca (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Essex CC) and freshman Brook Delucca (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) gave the Caldwell College women's soccer team a 2-0 victory over N.J.I.T. in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match Saturday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The win gives the Cougars a 4-2 mark in the conference (5-5-1 overall), while the Highlanders are now 2-7-1 overall and 2-5-1 in league play.

After a scoreless first half that saw N.J.I.T. out-shoot Caldwell 5-2, the Cougars quickly turned things in their favor. Sophomore Victoria Aguilera (Merida, Venezuela/Saucon Valley) sent a cross to the far post, where Fonseca scored her second goal of the season to give Caldwell a 1-0 lead in the 59th minute. Caldwell added a late goal in the 82nd minute, when freshman Carla Bleiler (Egg Harbor, NJ/Absegami) headed the ball forward to Delucca, who beat Highlander goalkeeper Kate Duncan for her third goal of the season.

During the decisive second half, the Cougars out-shot the Highlanders 13-2 and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Junior goalkeeper Richelle Morse (Mount Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley) made four saves for her third shutout of the season. Duncan also made for saves for N.J.I.T.

The Cougars next play at Queens College on Monday, Oct. 11, at 3:30 p.m.
