BLEILER NAMED CACC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

10-19-04

CALDWELL, N.J. - Freshman midfielder Carla Bleiler (Egg Harbor, NJ/Absegami) was selected the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's soccer Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Bleiler follows sophomore midfielder Victoria Aguilera (Merida, Venezuela/Saucon Valley), who won the conference award last week.

Last week Bleiler totaled three goals and one assists as the Cougars went 2-1 to improve to 7-6-1 on the season. On Monday, Bleiler notched Caldwell's only goal in a 4-1 loss at Queens. On Wednesday, Bleiler helped the Cougars pick up a big CACC win on the road with two goals and an assist in a 3-0 victory. Then on Saturday, she scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win at St. Thomas Aquinas.

The seven wins for Caldwell ties a school record for victories in a season. Also, the Cougars are in fourth place in the CACC with a 5-2 record, and have clinched a spot in the CACC Tournament.

Bleiler now leads the team in scoring with seven goals and two assists for 16 points in her freshman campaign.

The Cougars return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 20, when they host Dominican College in an important CACC game. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
