CASTLE, Del. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team lost to
Wilmington College 7-2 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
match Saturday afternoon at Kirkwood Soccer Complex. With the loss,
the Cougars fell to 1-2 in the conference and 2-4 overall, while the
Wildcats improved to 3-1 in the CACC and 6-1 overall.
Goals
from Christina Knight and Colby Bugda gave Wilmington a 2-0 halftime
lead. Caldwell responded quickly in the second half, with freshman Jessica
Davis (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) scoring off of a crossing pass
from freshman Danielle Shovlin (Allentown, NJ/Notre Dame) just
two minutes after the break. But starting with Begum Malali's tally in
the 63rd minute, the Wildcats reeled off four straight goals to give
Wilmington an insurmountable 6-1 lead.
Freshman Lane Viccidomini (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) put the Cougars
back on the scoreboard with a goal in the 86th minute. Wilmington's
Christina Coccia scored just before time expired for the game's final
tally.
Caldwell
goalkeepers Richelle Morse (Mount Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley)
and Jen Borden (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) made seven and six
saves, respectively, while Chrissy Bevenour made nine saves for the
Wildcats.
The Cougars return to action on Sunday with a non-conference match
against St. Michael's College at Caldwell Field. Game time is at 1:00
p.m.
