COUGAR WOMEN'S SOCCER PICKED TO FINISH FIFTH IN CACC PRESEASON POLL8-22-05 CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team is predicted to place fifth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference this fall, according to the 2005 CACC Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Cougars finished third and advanced to the semifinals of the CACC Tournament last season.
First-year head coach Steve O'Neal has eight starters and 12 letterwinners back from last year's squad that went 11-8-2 overall and 8-2 in the conference while setting the program record for victories and shutouts (nine) in a season. Among the returnees are first team all-CACC selections Lindsay Gregoris (Woodbury, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) and Carla Bleiler (Galloway Township, NJ/Absegami), along with second team honorees Victoria Aguilera (Merida, Venezuela/Saucon Valley) and Brook Delucca (Nutley, NJ/Nutley).
Holy Family earned the top spot in the preseason poll, garnering three
first-place votes and 128 points. Wilmington and Dominican were chosen second
and third, respectively while receiving four first-place votes each. CACC
newcomer Philadelphia University was tabbed for fourth and received one
first-place vote.
