PAKNIS SELECTED CACC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

10-25-05

CALDWELL, N.J. - Freshman midfielder Kristee Paknis (Whiting, NJ/Manchester) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's Rookie of the Week for women's soccer for the week ending Oct. 23, the conference announced Monday. Paknis, who was chosen the conference's Player of the Week on Oct. 10, assisted on three of the Cougars' four goals last week as her team went 0-2-1 in three double-overtime games. She leads the Cougars in assists with nine on the season.

In a 2-1 loss at Philadelphia University last Monday, Paknis assisted on a goal by sophomore midfielder Carla Bleiler (Galloway Twp., NJ/Absegami). On Wednesday, Paknis helped the Cougars tie Dominican 1-1 with an assist on Tory Marcus's (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) goal. Then against No. 8 Assumption on Sunday, Paknis's corner kick assist on a goal by senior forward Renata Fonseca (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Essex CC) allowed Caldwell to erase a two-goal deficit and tie the game at 2-2 before falling in double overtime.

Paknis and the Cougars host C.W. Post on Wednesday, Oct. 26. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
