RINKS CHOSEN CACC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

9-19-05

CALDWELL, N.J. - Freshman midfielder Samantha Rinks (Corinth, TX/Billy Ryan) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's Rookie of the Week for women's soccer for the week ending Sept. 25, the conference announced today. Rinks scored five goals last week to help the Cougars go 2-0-1.

Rinks began the week without a point through six games as a Cougar. That changed quickly, however, as Rinks tallied her first collegiate goal in a 4-4 tie with Molloy College on Monday, Sept. 19. Then in a 7-0 stomping of Concordia College on Thursday, Sept. 22, Rinks recorded a hat trick, including the game-winner, all in the first half. Rinks closed out the week with a goal in the Cougars' 3-1 win over CACC-foe Wilmington College on Saturday, Sept. 24.

With 10 points, all recorded last week, Rinks now ranks second on the team behind sophomore forward Brook Delucca (Nutley, NJ/Nutley), who has 19 points.

The Cougars (5-3-1 overall, 3-1 CACC), who haven't lost in five games, return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 28, when they play at Georgian Court University for a conference match. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
