WOMEN'S SOCCER TABBED FOR THIRD IN CACC PRESEASON POLL

N.J. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team was picked to finish
third in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference as the 2006 CACC
Women's Soccer Preseason Poll was released today. The Cougars received
85 points to rank behind preseason favorite Holy Family University and
Philadelphia University in voting by the league's 11 head coaches.
Last season the Cougars went 6-3-2 in the conference (8-8-3 overall)
and earned the No. 2 seed in the CACC Tournament, where they lost to
Goldey-Beacom College in the semifinals. Head coach Rick Stainton,
who begins his first year at Caldwell, has the reigning CACC Player of
the Year in forward Brook Delucca (Nutley, NJ/Nutley), right,
back for her junior season. Delucca, one of three 2005 all-CACC first
team selections who return, led the Cougars in scoring with 10 goals
and seven assists for 27 points. Junior midfielder Carla Bleiler
(Galloway Twp., NJ/Absegami) and sophomore midfielder Kristee
Paknis (Whiting, NJ/Manchester) made the all-conference first team
a year ago. In all, the Cougars return nine starters and 14
letterwinners from the 2005 squad.
The Cougars begin the 2006 schedule at the Pace University Tournament
in Briarcliff, N.Y., where they will face No. 25 Bryant University on
Friday, Aug. 25 at 2:00 p.m., and the host Setters on Saturday, Aug.
26 at 11:00 a.m. Caldwell's first home game is Tuesday, Sept. 5
against Nyack College at 4:00 p.m.
