OAKDALE,
N.Y. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team completed its season
with a 6-3 loss to Dowling College in a non-conference game Friday
afternoon. The Cougars finish the 2006 season with an overall record
of 7-11-1, while the Lions improve to 6-9-2.
The Cougars jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by
sophomore midfielder Kristee Paknis (Whiting, NJ/Manchester)
just 4:20 into the game. Sophomore midfielder Samantha Rinks
(Corinth, TX/Billy Ryan) made it 2-0 with another unassisted goal in
the 22nd minute. After Dowling's Sabrina D'Aprile put the Lions on
the board with a goal in the 24th minute, junior forward Brook
Delucca (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) found the net off a pass from
sophomore forward Kim Fenton (Galloway Twp., NJ/Absegami) to
put the Cougars ahead 3-1.
But Dowling would go on to score five unanswered goals to erase the
two-goal deficit and clinch victory in the Lions' final home game of
the year. Kristin Cipriano scored in the 38th minute to make the
score 3-2 before halftime, then four goals in less than 16 minutes
in the second half doomed Caldwell. D'Aprile finished with a hat
trick, while Cipriano tallied two goals and two assists in the win.
Senior goalkeeper Richelle Morse (Mount Holly, NJ/Rancocas
Valley) made 13 saves for Caldwell in her final collegiate game.
Samantha Mulholland recorded two saves for the Lions.
Morse, defenders
Patty Clark (North Arlington, NJ/North Arlington), Jenna
Crance (Colonia, NJ/Colonia), Lindsay Gregoris (Woodbury,
NJ/Gloucester Catholic) and Marcy Reda (Phillipsburg,
NJ/Bethlehem Academy), pictured, and midfielder Victoria Aguilera
(Merida, Venezuela/Saucon Valley) all finished their outstanding
careers on the field today. The seniors have helped the Cougars make
the semifinals of the CACC Tournament twice while compiling a record of
33-34-6 over the past four seasons.
