BLEILER, PAKNIS GUIDE COUGARS TO VICTORY OVER FELICIAN

CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College midfielders Carla Bleiler (Galloway Twp., NJ/Absegami) and Kristee Paknis (Whiting, NJ/Manchester) each scored twice to pace the Cougars' women's soccer team to a 6-2 win over Felician College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Saturday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The Cougars improved to 3-3 overall and 2-0 in the CACC, while the Golden Falcons drop to 1-7, 1-2 CACC.

Bleiler opened the scoring in the 17th minute, when she collected a long pass from junior defender Jessica Davis (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) down the right side and blasted a shot from 25 yards that beat Felician goalkeeper Feliz Cardenas. Less than six minutes later, the Colden Falcons pulled even on a goal by Cortney Gavin in the 23rd minute. But the Cougars would regain the lead for good in the 28th minute, when senior midfielder Victoria Aguilera (Merida, Venezuela/Saucon Valley) one-timed a pass from sophomore forward Kim Fenton (Galloway Twp., NJ/Absegami) into the back of the goal for a 2-1 lead. Bleiler notched her second goal of the game 79 seconds before halftime on a free kick from 25 yards out.

Paknis gave the Cougars a three-goal advantage in the 50th minute. Junior forward Brook Delucca (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) sent Paknis in behind the defense with a pass, and Paknis finished from 18 yards out for a 4-1 lead. Then in the 66th minute, Paknis knocked home a rebound off a shot by Fenton to make it 5-1. Gavin tallied her second goal of the game in the 76th minute, but Fenton's first goal of the season less than two minutes later made it 6-2 in favor of Caldwell. Fenton finished with a goal and two assists for the Cougars.

Caldwell senior goalkeeper Richelle Morse (Mount Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley) made two saves in the win, while Cardenas recorded six saves and Cassandra Murphy made two saves for Felician.

The Cougars play their second straight game when they host Mansfield University on Sunday, Sept. 17. The non-conference game starts at 2:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
