STAINTON TO COACH WOMEN'S SOCCER AT CALDWELL

N.J. - Rick Stainton has been named head women's soccer coach
at Caldwell College by Mark A. Corino, Caldwell's
Executive Director of Athletics. Stainton brings nine years of
coaching experience at the youth, high school and collegiate levels to
a Cougars' soccer program that has advanced to the semifinals of the
Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament in each of the past
two seasons.
"We are thrilled to have a coach with Rick's background to lead our
women's soccer program," Corino said. "He is well-connected in the
soccer communities in the state, and he also understands athletics
from the perspective of an administrator as well as a coach."
Stainton currently serves as the athletic director at St. Rose High
School in Belmar, N.J., a position he has held since 2004. He also
coaches boys' lacrosse at St. Rose. Prior to coming to the Monmouth
County private school, Stainton was the head women's soccer coach and
compliance officer at Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vt., in
2003. A 1998 graduate of Green Mountain, Stainton was a standout
goalkeeper for the Eagles, earning first-team all-Mayflower Conference
honors while being named the Northeast Region Most Valuable Player as
a senior. He also played lacrosse for four seasons at Green Mountain
and was all-conference in 1997. After graduation, Stainton spent the
2000 season with the Philadelphia Kixx of the Major Indoor Soccer
League.
Stainton began his coaching career in 1998 as an assistant coach for
the boys' varsity soccer team at Brick Memorial High School in Brick, N.J. He spent four
seasons there, culminating in a 14-4 record and a runner-up finish in
the Shore Conference in 2002. Stainton has coached club soccer at
various age groups and has been involved with New Jersey's Olympic
Development Program since 1999. He holds the NSCAA Advanced National
License and the National Goalkeeping Diploma, and is a Certified
Personal Trainer.
The Cougars' women's soccer team returns nine starters and 14
letter-winners from the 2005 squad that finished 8-8-3, including a
6-3-2 mark in the CACC that earned the Cougars the No. 2 seed in the
conference tournament. Sophomore forward Brook Delucca (Nutley,
NJ/Nutley) was named the CACC Player of the Year after tallying 10
goals and seven assists for 27 points to lead the Cougars. Other all-CACC
returnees include juniors Victoria Aguilera (Merida, Venezuela/Saucon
Valley) and Lindsay Gregoris (Woodbury, NJ/Gloucester
Catholic), sophomore Carla Bleiler (Galloway Twp., NJ/Absegami)
and freshman Kristee Paknis (Whiting, NJ/Manchester).
"I'm very excited about the opportunity to work with a program that
has a solid foundation in place and great potential for the upcoming
years," Stainton said. "I'm also appreciative of the chance to work
with a staff and administration that is supportive of athletics. I'm
looking forward to getting started and furthering the recent success
the team has enjoyed."
Stainton resides in Brick, N.J., with his wife Amy and their daughter
Rian.
