PHILADELPHIA ELIMINATES COUGARS FROM CACC TOURNAMENT

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team
completed its season with a 3-0 loss to Philadelphia University
Tuesday afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
Tournament quarterfinal game at Ravenhill Field. The Cougars, seeded
seventh, finish the 2007 campaign with a 5-14 record, while the
second-seeded Rams (13-6) advance to Thursday's semifinals.
The Cougars battled in the first half and kept the Rams off the
scoreboard for the game's first 45 minutes. less than four minutes
into the second half, a Caldwell defender was called for a foul in
the penalty area, resulting in a Philadelphia penalty kick. Rebecca
Kennedy converted the penalty kick to put the Rams ahead 1-0.
Melissa McMullen followed with a goal in the 53rd minute, then
Amanda Tagland found the back of the net in the 62nd minute for a
3-0 advantage.
Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) made
four saves in goal for the Cougars, who lose six seniors from this
year's squad. Forward Brook DeLucca (Nutley, NJ/Nutley),
midfielders Carla Bleiler (Galloway Twp., NJ/Absegami),
Jessica Davis (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) and Jennifer
Ferreira (Colonia, NJ/Colonia), and defenders Tory Marcus
(Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) and Danielle Shovlin (Allentown,
NJ/Notre Dame) helped Caldwell win 31 games over the last four
seasons and advance to the CACC Tournament three times.
