WOMEN'S SOCCER PLACES THREE ON ALL-CACC TEAMS

10-30-07
CALDWELL, N.J. - Three Caldwell College women's soccer players earned all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference accolades as the conference announced its postseason awards today. Senior midfielder Carla Bleiler (Galloway Twp., NJ/Absegami) and junior midfielder Kristee Paknis (Whiting, NJ/Manchester) were named to the all-CACC second team, while junior defender Kim Fenton (Galloway Twp., NJ/Absegami) received honorable mention.

Bleiler has been named all-conference in each of her four years at Caldwell, earning first team honors in 2004 and 2005, and second team honors in 2006 and 2007. The 2004 CACC Newcomer of the Year, Bleiler assisted on the game-winning goal by junior midfielder Samantha Rinks (Corinth, TX/Billy Ryan) in a 1-0 victory at Nyack in her final regular-season game. In her 76-game career, Bleiler has totaled 54 points on 19 goals and 16 assists.

This is the third straight year Paknis has been included on the all-CACC second team after earning the honor as a freshman and sophomore. The team's leading scorer with eight goals and three assists for 19 points, Paknis recorded two-goal games in wins over Chestnut Hill College and Bloomfield College this season. Off the field, Paknis is an excellent student, earning a spot on the CACC All-Academic Team last fall for posting a cumulative grade-point average above 3.5. She has recorded 21 goals and 15 assists for 57 points in 57 games at Caldwell.

Fenton made the switch to central defender this season after spending most of her career as a midfielder. Her solid play contributed to Caldwell's 1-0 shutout of Nyack that clinched the seventh seed for the Cougars in this week's CACC Tournament. She has nine points in 57 games in her career.

The Cougars (5-13) qualified for the CACC Tournament for the third time in four years. The team plays at second-seeded Philadelphia University in a quarterfinal match today, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
