ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team lost to
Dominican College, 4-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
match Monday afternoon at the DC Soccer Field. The defeat drops the
Cougars to 4-11 on the season and evens their conference record at
4-4, while the Lady Chargers improve to 6-8-1, 4-3-1 CACC.
Dominican opened the scoring in the 13th minute, when Jennifer
Ditzig converted a penalty kick for a 1-0 lead. Jane Dorsey made the
score 2-0 with an unassisted goal in the 32nd minute. The Lady
Chargers scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half
to put the game out of reach, as Marie Lamaida and Margaret Porter
each found the back of the net.
Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) made
six saves for Caldwell, while Dominican's Rosa Centurion and
Valentina Sturchio combined to make three saves in goal for the
shutout.
The Cougars continue CACC play with a home game against Post
University on Thursday, Oct. 18. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
at Caldwell Field.
