CALDWELL LOSES CACC CONTEST AT WILMINGTON

Del. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team surrendered four
second-half goals to fall to Wilmington University, 6-1 Saturday
evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match held at
Caravel Academy. The loss evens the Cougars' conference record at
3-3 while dropping their overall record to 3-8. The Wildcats are now
11-3 overall and 5-2 in the CACC.
Wilmington's Kirsten Stallone opened the scoring just 8:50 into the
game to make it 1-0. Begum Malali added another goal in the 21st
minute on a breakaway for a two-goal Wilmington lead. The Cougars
cut the deficit in half in the 40th minute, when junior midfielder
Kristee Paknis (Whiting, NJ/Manchester) scored her
team-leading fifth goal of the season off an assist from junior
Carolyn Dorsey (Belmar, NJ/St. Rose). Caldwell was unable to
carry the momentum into the second half, as the Wildcats scored four
unanswered goals in the first 17 minutes of the half to clinch the
victory.
Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell)
recorded six saves in the loss, while Wilmington's Amanda Jenkins
made three saves. Stallone and Malali each scored twice, while
Nicole Meis tallied a goal and two assists for the Wildcats.
Next up for the Cougars is another CACC contest against Felician
College on Tuesday, Oct. 9. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. at Tryon
Field in Rutherford, N.J.
