N.J. - Caldwell College freshman forward Katie Margiotta
(Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) was chosen the Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference Women's Soccer Co-Rookie of the Week for the
week ending Oct. 19, the league announced today. Margiotta scored
two goals last week as the Cougars split a pair of conference games.
Margiotta tallied both of her goals in a 2-0 victory at Bloomfield
on Wednesday at Watessing Park. With the game scoreless in the 22nd
minute, Margiotta received a pass from senior midfielder Samantha
Rinks (Corinth, TX/Billy Ryan) with her back to the goal, turned
and fired a shot past the Bloomfield goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead. She
also finished a pass from senior midfielder Kristee Paknis
(Whiting, NJ/Manchester) with less than a minute to play for her
first career multi-goal game. Margiotta ranks third on the team with
three goals this season.
Margiotta and the Cougars (5-8-1 overall) continue CACC play with a
game at Post University on Wednesday, Oct. 22. The game is scheduled
to start at 3:00 p.m. in Waterbury, Conn.
