PAKNIS CHOSEN CACC WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK

9-29-08
CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College senior midfielder Kristee Paknis (Whiting, NJ/Manchester) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 28, the league announced today. Paknis scored six goals in a win and a tie in two conference games last week.

Paknis started her prolific week with four goals in a 5-0 victory over Felician College on Wednesday, Sept. 24. The performance set a new school record for goals in a game and tied for second all-time on the CACC single-game record book. Then on Saturday against Georgian Court University, Paknis scored the first goal of the game after dribbling through several defenders and beating the Lions' goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead. After Georgian Court came back to lead 3-2 late in the game, Paknis blasted a free kick from 20 yards out into the goal to tie the game with just 21 seconds left in regulation. The game ended in a 3-3 tie and left Caldwell with a 1-1-1 conference record.

Through eight games this season, Paknis has a team-leading eight goals and one assist for 17 points. This is the third CACC Player of the Week honor for Paknis, a three-time all-CACC selection who earned the conference's top weekly honor on Oct. 10, 2005 and Oct. 16, 2006.

Paknis and the Cougars (1-6-1 overall) host Dominican College on Thursday, Oct. 2 in a CACC contest. The game is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
