PAKNIS NAMED FIRST TEAM ALL-REGION BY DAKTRONICS
11-12-08
CALDWELL,
N.J. – Caldwell College senior forward Kristee Paknis
(Whiting, NJ/Manchester) was chosen to the Daktronics East
All-Region first team, as voted on by the region's sports
information directors, the College Sports Information Directors of
America announced Tuesday. Paknis is the first Caldwell College
women's soccer player to earn all-Region honors from any
organization in the 11-year history of the program. All first team
all-Region honorees are now candidates for All-American honors.
Paknis earned a spot on the all-Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference first team after
leading the Cougars in scoring with 12 goals and six assists for 30
points. Her performance helped Caldwell take fourth in the
conference and advance to the semifinals of the CACC Tournament for
the fifth time. Earlier this season, she set a school record with four goals
in a game as Caldwell defeated Felician College, 5-0 on Sept. 24.
Later that week, Paknis scored twice in a 3-3 tie with Georgian
Court University to earn CACC Player of the Week accolades on Sept.
29. A three-time all-CACC second team selection, Paknis registered 33
goals and 21 assists for 87 points in 76 career games. She is a
two-time member of the CACC All-Academic Team, which requires a
cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.
The NCAA Division II East Region includes schools from the CACC, the
Northeast 10 Conference and the East Coast Conference. The Cougars,
coached by Nate Guagliardi, went 8-11-1 overall, including a
7-3-1 mark in the CACC.
