LAUREIGH EARNS PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS FROM ECAC
10-20-09
CALDWELL,
N.J. - Caldwell College senior forward Nicole Laureigh (Lanoka Harbor,
NJ/Lacey Twp.) was chosen the ECAC
Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 18, the
organization announced today. This is the second weekly award for Laureigh,
who was selected the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player
of the Week on Monday.
Laureigh scored both of Caldwell's goals
in a 2-1 victory over Post University on Oct. 13 in Waterbury, Conn.
Her first goal broke a scoreless tie in the 28th minute, when she received
a pass from
junior midfielder Morgan Frankenfield (Coplay, PA/Whitehall
Coplay) and dribbled in alone on Eagles' goalkeeper Elizabeth Johnson
to score the game's first goal. After Post tied the game in the 64th
minute, Laureigh headed home a rebound off a free kick from sophomore Nikki
D'Orsaneo (Bowie, MD/Bowie) in the 71st minute for the eventual
game-winner. The performance marked the first multi-goal game as a
Cougar for Laureigh, who has three goals on the season.
The ECAC's membership includes approximately 300 colleges and universities
from Maine to North Carolina and westerly to Illinois. Caldwell
student-athletes have received weekly and year-end honors from the ECAC
since joining the organization in 2004, and the men's and women's soccer
teams and men's and women's basketball teams have competed in ECAC
championship tournaments.
Laureigh and the Cougars return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 21,
when they host Concordia College in a CACC game. The kick-off is set
for 3:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
