Head Coach Brian Davies

Green Mountain College '96

Second Season

Brian Davies returns for his second season as head coach of women’s soccer at Caldwell College. Last season Davies guided the Cougars to a 7-11 record overall, including a 4-6 mark in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

“Our record doesn’t indicate how well we played last year,” Davies said. “We lost seven games by one goal, so we were very close to having a good record. Overall I’m very pleased with the program. Everything is heading in the right direction.”

Prior to becoming Caldwell’s third head coach in six seasons, Davies was the women’s soccer coach at his alma mater, Green Mountain College in Vermont. The Eagles were 32-10 in Davies’ two seasons, including two conference championships and a NAIA Region X crown. Both teams received NSCAA Team Academic Awards as well. Previously, he served as an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Green Mountain for four years. Since 1996, Davies also has been running Soccer 11, a soccer company he started that trains youth soccer teams.

Davies starred for Green Mountain from 1989 to 1992, recording a whopping 166 points on 62 goals and 42 assists. A two-time NAIA All-American, Davies set school records for goals and points in a season when he scored 28 goals and 74 points in 1992. He was later inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame.

A native of Ewing Township, N.J., Davies recognizes the location as one of the benefits of coaching soccer at Caldwell College.

“There is a tremendous amount of talent in New Jersey when it comes to high school soccer, and that’s a great place to start in continuing to build this program,” he said. “Caldwell is an NCAA (Division II) school, and that should be a big advantage when it comes to recruiting.”

Davies’ approach to coaching stresses conditioning and discipline.

“Fundamentals are important,” Davies said. “Building a solid defense is paramount to success, especially with the competition we’ll be facing. We also have to concentrate on offense, and getting players who will want to attack the net and create scoring opportunities.”

Davies and his wife Trysha were blessed with their first child, Kailee Anne, on July 19, 2004. The Davies’ reside in Wall, N.J.
