RAMAPO HANDS COUGARS FIRST LOSS OF SEASON

After starting the 2004 season with a 3-0-1 record, the Caldwell College women's tennis team lost 6-3 at Ramapo College Saturday afternoon. Ramapo won four of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches to clinch the victory.

Junior Oksana Manoukian (Old Tappan, NJ/Rutgers) kept her own unbeaten streak alive in singles with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Erin McDowell at No. 1 singles. Junior Erin O'Neill (River Edge, NJ/Barnstable Academy) also picked up a win for the Cougars, defeating Hollis Grant at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 7-5.

In doubles, Manoukian and senior Stacie Zafiris (Palisades Park, NY/Palisades Park) were victorious at No. 1 doubles, 8-4 over Grant and Jenn Murphy.

The Cougars play host to Queens College on Friday, Oct. 1. The dual starts at 4:00 p.m. at the Caldwell Tennis Courts.
