COUGARS DOWN STATEN ISLAND, 8-1

The Caldwell College women's tennis team won all five contested singles matches en route to an 8-1 win over the College of Staten Island Friday afternoon at the Caldwell Tennis Courts. The Cougars improved to 7-2-1 on the season.

The Cougars picked up a win at No. 2 doubles, as senior Stacie Zafiris (Palisades Park, NY/Palisades Park) and junior Kristi Godfrey (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) defeated Richiemay Ynolino and Margaret Barzymowski, 8-1.

In singles, Oksana Manoukian (Old Tappan, NJ/Rutgers), Joellen Keaney (Oak Bluffs, MA/Marthas Vineyard Regional), Elaine Mancebo and Patricia Messick each won in straight sets, while Danielle O'Connell (South Amboy, NJ/St. John Vianney) won in a pro set, 8-3. Staten Island forfeited matches at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.

The Cougars return to the courts Monday, Oct. 11, when they host Richard Stockton College at 4:30 p.m.
