COUGARS LOSE TO FDU-MADISON, 6-3
9-26-06
MADISON,
N.J. - The Caldwell College women's tennis team saw its two-match winning
streak end with a 6-3 loss to FDU-Madison in a non-conference dual Tuesday
afternoon. The defeat drops the Cougars to 3-3 on the season, while the
Devils improve to 2-5 overall.
The Cougars took a 2-1 lead with a pair of doubles victories to start the
dual. Senior Oksana Manoukian (Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley
Regional), pictured, and freshman
Brittni Frantellizzi (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) won their match
at No. 1 doubles by the score of 8-2, and senior Danielle O'Connell
(South Amboy, NJ/St. John Vianney) paired with freshman Jessica Ouderkirk
(Syracuse, NY/Westhill) for an 8-4 victory at No. 3 doubles. But the Devils
responded in the singles competition, winning five of the six matches to
clinch the team victory. Manoukian picked up Caldwell's only singles win, a
straight-set triumph over Leslie Johnson at No. 1 singles.
The Cougars play at Georgian Court on Wednesday, Sept. 27 in a Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference dual, beginning at 3:30 p.m. in Lakewood,
